Lucy Wilcox

Accessibility Services Coordinator
Brief info

Lucy Wilcox here-

I am a grandmother, a dog lover, a hiker and friendships are critical to my well being. I am a psychotherapist by trade for over 40 years & came to SAIL after retiring from that work. I was looking ways to grow personally and professionally. SAIL has offered me both opportunities in a part-time position as the Accessibility Services Coordinator.

I am a certified ADA Coordinator and proud to be a member of the SAIL Ambassadors Team. We work with businesses and government entities to improve accessibility through formal site reviews and brief walkthroughs to point out problem areas. We are specializing in helping create a barrier free Upper Peninsula where all individuals will be able to go anywhere in their home or community & say yes to all these key questions:

1. Can I enter?
2. Will I be able to sit comfortably with my friends?
3. Can I use the toilet independently?
4. Will I know what floor to get off on the elevator
5. AND can this all occur without stigma?

Please feel free to contact me at SAIL through my email with any questions or ideas about this important task.

Testimonials

A Few Kind Words

"Disability Network has allowed me to share ways to deal with social issues, given me new ideas about technology and other accommodations, helped me to share and release stress, and increased my self esteem."

Geri Taeckens

"As an intern at SAIL, I have been able to direct many people toward programs or organizations that may help people live more independently. Every time a goal is accomplished, the feeling of success is totally noticeable. Even with one client at a time, the community is noticing that this organization cares about our clients and the communities in which they serve."

Jennifer Webber

"I want to improve acceptance, community integration and employment opportunities for people in my community who have disabilities. They are individuals with strengths and challenges just like everyone else."
